People’s Participation in Education Trust Fund WATU is a non-governmental organization which solicits funds from within and outside Tanzania by encouraging individuals and organizations to participate in the development of educational facilities, especially for those who are underprivileged. WATU is located in Moshi, in the Kilimanjaro Region of northern Tanzania.

WATU aims to:

• mobilize resources to improve the quality of pre-primary, primary and secondary education in disadvantaged rural and urban areas in northern Tanzania;
• mobilize resources to ensure that as many young people as possible have access to such improved educational facilities;
• act as the representative of any institution or individual committed to the development of educational support;
• create a fully equipped resource and conference centre for teachers, students and educational administrators;
• assist governmental departments and local authorities to achieve their objectives in education.
